Carlos de Haes (1826-1898) was a Belgian-born Spanish landscape painter. He is best known for his depictions of natural landscapes, particularly his stunning views of the Spanish mountains and coastlines. De Haes moved to Spain in 1853 and settled in Madrid, where he became a member of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando. He was a leading figure in the Spanish landscape school, which sought to capture the essence of the Spanish landscape and its unique qualities of light, color, and atmosphere.
