A reddish octopus with long, curling arms, drawn with scientific care. Next to the animal, small anatomical details show its suckers and skin. The warm red of the octopus stands out beautifully on the cream paper.
Why it works on your wall
- A touch of colour with a nautical theme: ideal in a bathroom, a kitchen or a seaside home.
- A horizontal format: it fits above a bench, a console or a bathtub.
- Framing tip: a natural wood or black frame; pair it with our other octopus plates.
The plate
This illustration comes from the Histoire naturelle générale et particulière des céphalopodes acétabulifères vivants et fossiles, the great study of octopuses, squids and cuttlefish begun by André de Férussac and completed by Alcide d'Orbigny. Its hand-coloured plates are still admired for their accuracy and beauty.
