Collection: Fairy Tale Posters

Between 1900 and 1930, printing finally caught up with imagination. Publishers could reproduce full-colour plates tipped into gift books, and a generation of illustrators — Arthur Rackham, Edmund Dulac, Kay Nielsen — built entire worlds inside them. Gnarled trees with faces, princesses in impossible gowns, seas the colour of old gold. That is what this collection gathers.

These prints suit a nursery, a child's bedroom or a reading corner, but they are not nursery decor in the soft pastel sense. The drawing is detailed enough to reward an adult standing close, which is why they work just as well framed in a hallway or above a bookshelf.
