Cat on a Flowery Meadow – Bruno Liljefors

A black and white cat sitting in a meadow full of yellow flowers. Bruno Liljefors paints the animal in its natural setting, alert and still, as if it had just heard something in the grass. The fresh greens and bright yellows give the scene all the light of a Scandinavian summer.

Why it works on your wall

• Fresh and cheerful: perfect in a kitchen, a child's room or a sunny living room.
• A gift for cat lovers that is also a real piece of art history.
• Framing tip: a natural oak or white frame keeps the light, summery feel.

The artist

Bruno Liljefors (1860–1939) is Sweden's most celebrated wildlife painter. A keen hunter and observer of nature, he painted animals in their environment, often half hidden in grass or snow, with a modern eye influenced by Japanese prints and photography.
