STORY & ORIGIN |
|
This game board was created in the Netherlands between 1800 and 1899 by an anonymous printmaker. It is now part of the permanent collection of the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam (ref. RP-P-OB-207.383). The lithography technique, coloured in red, purple, yellow and green, gives it that unmistakable vintage character that modern reproductions simply cannot replicate. |

HOW TO PLAY (condensed rules — 2 to 6 players, ages 5+) |
|
Each player chooses a token and places all tokens on the starting square. On their turn, each player rolls two dice and moves their token forward by the total number shown. |
|
Goose squares (squares 5, 9, 14, 18, 23, 27…): if you land on a goose, move forward again by the same number. |
|
Square 6 (The Bridge): advance directly to square 12. |
|
Square 19 (The Inn): miss one turn. |
|
Square 31 (The Well): wait until another player lands on your square and takes your place. |
|
Square 42 (The Maze): go back to square 30. |
|
Square 52 (The Prison): wait three turns. |
|
Square 58 (Death): return directly to the starting square. |
|
Square 63 (The Garden of the Goose): the first player to land exactly on square 63 wins. If you overshoot, move back by the excess number of squares. |
